Destination: best wedding ever
Ok ok. Stop everything. I think this is the most wonderful weddings i’ve had here in a loooong time! Forget about traditional venues. Forget about a one room dinner party. Well. Clean your mind and start over again. See the wedding as the new age brings weddings. This could be anywhere in the world, but it comes from Croatia by the hands oh Dijana & Tom, DtStudios.
I’m not telling you to forget about tradition, cultural or local. I’m just telling you to be open minded and accept that, weddings have changed. Ceremonies are different. Much more personalized. Venues need to change, the ones that haven’t done that must do it fast! Because grooms need clean spaces to draw their own style.
Flowers are used in a different way. Candles are everywhere. Lights are now a big part in most wedding styling. And how i love it! You can see how wonderful weddings have been by the great photos.
They have grown from this utopic and copy-paste models, to be a thumbnail print of the grooms with a little touch of XXI century’s magic!
But, let’s get back to Sophie and James’s destination wedding in Croatia! They chose Vis, an island in Dalmatia. Dijana & Tom – DtStudios were amazed. They also had a dream wedding from a photographer and videographer point of view!

Fort George was the venue chosen by the grooms. It’s is a real fort, built in 1812 by the British army to protect the island of Vis from the French invasion that was led by Napoleon. A perfect destination wedding place for our British couple.
JP and I are adventure seekers to the core, as a reult sun, sea, and travel is central to our lives. Therefore it was a fairly obvious to us early on in wedding planning that a destination wedding would be perfect for us. I had done some island hopping around Croatia about 10 years ago and had fallen in love with the beauty of the Dalmatian coast, along with the wonderful food, welcoming people and relaxed atmosphere.
There are lots of stunning venues dotted around Croatia, but I had found images of Fort George online and we were sold instantly.
It was a great wedding. The ceremony was amazing, so many details involved! “The speeches were so funny and emotional at the same time. I have to admit that the camera moved a couple of times because I was laughing so hard that it was almost impossible for me to hold it steady!”.
We flew in our wedding celebrant Hannah Hart from the UK. We were so pleased, she did an amazing job and we had so much fun during the ceremony.
As only great professionals do, Hannah gathered all the data about the couple and talked to their friends and family in order to get to know about their history. As for Dijana & Tom:
This was “the most memorable ceremony we have ever seen! While she was walking down the aisle, the couple’s good friend Pie Jim lead the singing and played the guitar. Then, both bride and groom, sang Can’t Take My Eyes off You by Frankie Valli and The 4 Seasons where their guests joined them in singing and adding a little flare to the song by “playing” song’s music on kazoos. After the remarkable speech by Hannah Hart and couple’s vows all the guests stood up and sang Stand By Me by Ben E. King, with the help of kazoos again, of course.
And after all of this, what more can we say about this wedding? Sophie and JP’s still personalized decorations all over the venue. Polaroid pictures of them, their friends, family, their memories and special moments. Every tree was decorated with pictures.
We put on a gin bar for the guests during the drinks reception, which went down well (even if they did have to compete with some eager wasps). The food and wine put on by the Fort was really beautiful. Our fantastic DJ Phat Plastic (also from the UK) kept everyone dancing until we had to leave at 3am.
So, do you have ideas for your wedding day? Did you already found your destination wedding venue? If not, we can help you find the spot and the right vendors!
Thank you DTstudios for this great work! So glad that you shared it with us!
